This article is going to allow you to figure out what you need to do for your Business and outline the next steps, as far as Digital Marketing is concerned. You will also be able to determine what you can handle yourself, and what you’ll need help with.
For the proper planning and implementation of any marketing techniques, you need a strategy. But before we can make the decision to start investing some money and time into strategizing, it’s important to understand the digital marketing basics for the various platforms.
Digital Marketing has a number of sub-categories, but i’m going to briefly talk about the ones that I think are more important for Small and Medium Sized Businesses. We can then delve deeper into each one in the near future.
So let’s get started!
Your effective marketing strategy can incorporate a variety of components. Effectively engaging with each (or any!) of these components will definitely grow your brand’s presence online in a powerful way, like I always say, the key to growing a Brand online is Consistency!
The first key component, which is honestly a personal favourite is Social Media Marketing. This includes both the management of your social media platforms and advertising your products and services though these platforms. Social Media Marketing is very effective in building a brand online. It makes it much easier and cheaper to build Brand Awareness and Authority, Engage with Customers in real time and improve Brand Loyalty.
The second key component to your digital marketing is your Website. Your website is usually your first point of contact with prospects. So the key takeaways here are that you need a website and that your website needs to portray who you are as a business as it is its extension. I’m obviously referring to the style, colours, elements and messaging. Your website also needs to be fast, It needs to be secure and it definitely needs to be mobile friendly.
Now that we’ve mentioned having a website, you also need to Optimize Your Website, that is Search engine optimization. Earlier, we mentioned how your prospects are most likely to Google something first when they are considering purchasing. Your website therefore needs to be optimised for search engines for it to be found among millions of search engine results.
Another effective component of Digital Marketing is Pay-Per-Click Advertising. It’s a model of internet marketing in which you pay a fee each time one of your ads is clicked. In simply terms, it allows you to buy visits to your digital platforms.
Email Marketing has been around forever, and that’s probably because it’s also an effective component of digital marketing. It’s the most direct and effective way of connecting with your leads, nurturing them, and turning them into paying customers. It involves sending emails to prospects and customers. The more effective the emails, the higher the rate of converting prospects into customers, and turning one-time buyers into loyal, raving fans.
Content Marketing is another key component, it is a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of online material (such as videos, blogs, and social media posts) that does not explicitly promote a brand but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or services. Social media is actually an integral part of content marketing. Content Marketing is not so much about selling your products or services, it’s more educational. By becoming a credible, authoritative resource on topics that matter to your potential customers, your business is more likely to get discovered by the right audience and earn their loyalty and trust. And yes, Content Marketing is why you’re watching this very first episode of the Business Fix right now!
Once again, just to recap, here are the the fundamentals of Digital marketing that I’ve briefly talked about
